Sierra Academy of Aeronautics proudly welcomes students from around the globe to pursue their aviation ambitions at our FAA Part 141–approved flight school. Whether you're beginning your journey with a Private Pilot License or advancing to become a Certified Flight Instructor, our comprehensive training programs and dedicated support services are designed to help you succeed in the United States and beyond.

Programs Available for M-1 Visa

All of our FAA Part 141 programs are open to international students, including;

Private Pilot License (PPL)

FAA-issued certification that allows you to fly a single-engine aircraft for personal or recreational purposes, serving as the foundational step in a professional pilot career.

Certified Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII/MEI)

Licensed commercial pilot who is authorized by the FAA to teach students how to fly, provide flight training for various pilot certifications, and help others build the knowledge and skills required to become safe and competent aviators.

Instrument Rating
(IR)

FAA endorsement that allows a pilot to fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), enabling safe and precise navigation through low visibility, clouds, or adverse weather conditions using only cockpit instruments.

Time Building Programs

Structured flight training option designed to help licensed pilots accumulate the flight hours required for advanced certifications or airline careers, typically offering affordable access to aircraft for solo or shared flying under the supervision of a certified instructor.

Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

FAA certification that allows pilots to be compensated for flying, qualifying them to work professionally as pilots for charter operations, flight instruction, aerial surveying, and more.

Professional Pilot Program

Structured curriculum that will take you from your first takeoff to earning your Commercial Pilot License, complete with Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings, all in 12 months. Designed with international students in mind, our program offers support with visa processes, English proficiency, and housing arrangements.

Visa Support

  • We are authorized to issue the Form I-20 for all of our training programs, enabling students to apply for the M-1 Student Visa.

  • Our admissions team will guide you step-by-step through the process: application, SEVIS registration, embassy appointment, and arrival planning.

Who Can Apply?

  • Must be at least 17 years old (18+ recommended for advanced courses)

  • Hold a valid passport

  • Able to obtain an FAA Medical Certificate

  • Demonstrate English language proficiency (interview or test scores such as TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo if applicable)

  • Provide financial documentation to cover tuition and living expenses
